hiphop is not dead this winter

Debuting on the Hip-Hop charts this week at No. 1 is Jay-Z. The Island Def Jam prez is back again to throw some Brooklyn flavor in the rap game, as his single "Show Me What You Got" continues to dominate the airwaves. However, despite the expectations of him selling over 800K the first week, Kingdom Come has taken the first week numbers to 680,000, clearly surpassing gold status.

Debuting at No. 5 is Snoop Dogg. The blazin' new single featuring R. Kelly, "That's That Shit," is a heavy hitter on the radio and video airplay, contributing to the 265,000 discs sold for week one. Alongside the R. Kelly collabo, Blue Carpet Treatment also features Akon, Young Jeezy, Ice Cube and others.

Up next is Tupac, debuting on the charts at No. 9 this week. It seems as if Pac has enough material to last for the next three decades, but it has been rumored that Pac's Life will be the last full-length release. The numbers have rounded off at 159,000.

Slipping hard body to No. 13 is The Game. After enjoying the number one spot on the charts last week, Game has lost his clout, but has still finished off with 134,100 discs after two weeks. The Compton rapper is at the tip of official gold status, with 493,100 copies sold for Doctor's Advocate.
